Blog Design: Meet CameraChy.

I'm super excited to share with you the designs that I cooked up for Chy's brand new blog!!!

She wanted a simple layout, so her photography has room to shine; with use of her favorite color green, and white.
I thought it'd be neat to make the background of the posts mimic the "polaroid" shape of the social media icons. The green color acts as a frame around her blog posts.

Black Nails, once more with Feeling.

Another black nail color! I like it better than Black Diamond.

This is Ulta, Little Black Dress. Two coats. Application is great, and could probably go opaque with only 1 coat. Only minus of this nail polish is the darn applicator top; it is big & bulky which kinda makes it difficult to grip.

If you're following my Pinterest, you know I've been eyeing this polish for weeks.

I love how dark it is, but the deep navy blue undertone doesn't appear much on the nail, as it does in the bottle (and not nearly as much as it does in the web photo swatch I found:(

8 Letters.

Why is saying I love you so hard? With certain people it's effortless, with others it's the complete opposite. The words bounce around in your head...when should you say it, how, following what other words could you squeeze it in...somehow those 8 letters can be felt in the pit of your stomach as they trek up towards your mouth.

You brush pass the difficulty to say it anyway, because it's important to you that they know. I mean, they have to know! Who doesn't want to know that they're loved? What if they never see you again, & you them?...

...but, maybe that's it.

Maybe the words can sound too much like 'goodbye'.

Love plays!

I absolutely love going to plays & stage shows! The atmosphere just feels magical.

My favorite show thus far has been Cirque du Soleil's Ovo. The Lion King comes in a very close second (& I'm not the biggest fan of musicals)!

I'm kicking myself for not going to see Wicked when it was here.

What good shows have you seen?

Java, Joy & Coffee Cake.

My siblings and I drank Sanka after school when I was 9. That was good stuff...back then! I remember coming home on Fall afternoons looking forward to pouring a little orange packet into a mug filled with steaming hot water...then adding cream and sugar by the spoonfuls. I've been a coffee fan ever since. Only now, it's never instant. Husband thinks I'm addicted. I think it's a simple pleasure. So is this coffee cake!

I was amazed how quick this Sour Cream Coffee Cake went together. It tastes good, and of course, goes well with a fresh cup of java. Don't worry non-coffee drinkers, there is none in this recipe. Having never made coffee cake before, I did expect it as an ingredient.

Thrift Store Find: The Wool Pencil Skirt.

I found another wool pencil skirt at Salvation Army. I got it dry cleaned & it fits like a dream...feels like I should be a nurse on M*A*S*H.
I never really watched the show, but I loved the opening theme music. I had no idea it was a real, whole song until recently; the title & lyrics shocked me.

Being Best-Friendless-Forever?

I have zero girl friends (that aren't kin).

I think about this from time to time & wonder if it's healthy.
Do I need to have a non-related woman in my life to share my thoughts/problems/humor/affection/leisure/emotions/life with? Do I have a innate need to be there (in these same respects) for her in return?
Is that not what best friends are for?

American Horror Story, TV

We just started watching this show. When Husband first suggested it, I wasn't interested because I was expecting it to be real life stories of horror. No thanks!
After discovering that it was a drama, we watched the first episode & got hooked.

Good TV...strange & at times confusing, but good!
The next door neighbor cracks me up.

Do you watch?

Thanks for all the lovely compliments!

You guys compliment me all the time on my photos, & I truly appreciate it; but, I feel like I must say that I am no photographer.

While I will toot my own horn on composition, my camera does all the work in snapping sharp photos. It's a Nikon D60.
Husband usually shoots my outfit post photos, so all credit goes to him on that.

If I had any secret photo tips to share, it'd be to shoot in natural light, no flash.
Some secret, right! LOL

Clearing the Clutter In Real Life: Yes, I Graduated from Kindergarten!

There.
Now, I can throw away this ancient diploma & the one from 8th grade.

Recently I talked about simplifying your time online, and how I wanted to clear some clutter from my life online (speaking of which, I still have tons of food/recipe posts to upload from the old blog. I must get this done.).

Now I'm getting rid of the clutter in real life.

Thrift Store Find: The Jacket.

I'm so glad I didn't put it back!

I needed a light jacket, and this one fits me nicely. Plus, the navy goes with so much in my closet.

Only...I now look like I'm jacking Husbands style. He has like 3 black jackets that look very similar to this; utility style.

The jacket was about 3 bucks & practically looked new. It's Land's End.

Present Fascination: Painted Black Nails.

I'm not usually attracted to dark nail colors, but black nails has recently become a fascination of mine.

This is China Glaze, Black Diamond. It's a grayish black with a shimmer. At certain angles it looks bluish. I used two coats. The application is good.

Tiny Cabbages.

I tasted brussel sprouts for the very first time recently. In the grocery store, super tired of eating broccoli, the sprouts of brussel said, "Try me!".

I couldn't resist.
They looked so little & cute. How could they taste bad?

I purchased 6. Three for me & three for Husband; just in case I didn't like them.

I washed them, cut off a bit of the brown ends, split them down the middle, drizzled on extra virgin olive oil, seasoned with sea salt & fresh black pepper, and roasted them for about 25 minutes in a 400 degree oven.

They tasted like tiny roasted cabbages. Yay, I like brussel sprouts! I like them better than broccoli.
Is it weird that I prefer broccoli stems to the florets?

What vegetable have you never eaten?
