Learning to ride a bike as an adult: The End!

Learning to ride a bike as an adult: Pedaling means Riding.
I wasn't expecting it to happen, but I told myself: "Today IS the day"!
Husband & I went back to the empty parking lot for the third consecutive Saturday, and I got on my bike with confidence & major determination.
I pushed off & balanced with ease for a minute, when my feet finally found the pedals & before I knew it, I was riding...for like 4 seconds!
Joy found me.
Learning to ride a bike as an adult: Testing Blueberry.
I'm counting on that.
Sometimes, I feel like I'm thinking too hard about it. That I should just get on the darn thing, push off, and start pedaling.
Sounds easy. Feels scary.
Because it is unfamiliar.
What happens when you go too fast? When you try to stop? Hit a rock, or something?
What if you fall?

Okay! I was super excited & jumped the gun in posting the previous video.
I just couldn't wait. Yesterday was amazing!!!
Of course...if you so happen to be following along in my journey (& hope to learn how to ride a bike in your adult life), I have a few other posts to share between the preface & the end.
I'm going to call this a "Tarantino-esque blog posting series"...but, the next few posts will be in order.

Grilled Cheese Sandwich & Pancake Syrup.
Try it the next time you make a grilled cheese sandwich...
Just dip one corner in some syrup, bite into the goodness, & come back and tell me what you think!
What weird pairings do you think are tasty?
Oh!... I also love to sprinkle salt on fresh, ripe peaches. Delicious!

Learning to ride a bike as an adult: The Bike Shop.
I kept reminding myself that I really wanted to do this. No one was forcing me & I wasn't torturing myself. I actually wanted to learn.
First impression of the bike shop was..."Wow!!!"; Husband & I weren't expecting it to be so nice inside (...well, he went in totally blind; I almost always "google" new places before actually going. Am I alone in this?) The last bike shop we'd been in left a lot to be desired.
This place was cool!

Learning to ride a bike as an adult: Preface.
I never rode a bike before. This used to embarrass me, but no more. I know there are plenty more adults in the world who also have never learned how...so, I'm going to share this experience. Hopefully it will inspire someone!
I'll start a war inside. . .

Navy & Tanned Leather.
Mushroom, Spinach & Feta Cheese Lasagna.
What do you want to experience in life?
This sole question is what I took away from reading The 4-Hour Workweek. I'd recommend this book for inspiration, more than it's practical advice.
Although it's a very motivating, thought-provoking read; filled with uncommon ideas about work and sprinkled with info on how to free up your personal time (i.e., hire a personal assistant overseas to read/reply to your emails, &/or negotiate with your manager/boss so that you can complete your entire week's work on Monday & Tuesday, to take off the rest of the week to travel somewhere exotic, take a class, learn another language, etc. The latter you've done successfully when you've convinced him/her that it's somehow better for the company!), I don't think I'll be using it's suggestions any time soon.
But...if you read the book, you choose what you'll apply in your life, and what you'll skip.
I started thinking about what I wanted to experience.
Not long after reading, I suddenly got bored with getting things & accumulating more "stuff"...stuff that only excites me before, during, and a little bit after purchasing (.i.e., clothes); but more on this later. It's complicated, as shopping is one of my all time favorite "experiences".
My focus at the moment, and hopefully it will continue on, is to go & do more, and find those experiences that bring excitement & joy that is more long-term.
One experience that I'm going to share with you here is learning how to ride a bicycle, as an adult!
In the long-term, I see myself riding to the ice cream shop (and taking other leisure bike rides) with Husband, riding for fitness, and maybe even teaching other adults or my little niece (when she gets older) how to ride a bike.
I'm excited & nervous!!!

Magenta Crayola Nails.
Mr. Darcy & The Duke of York.
Pride & Prejudice, TV mini-series
I LOVED THE KINGS SPEECH. We watched it this past weekend. It had cool visuals, great humor, & a gazillion "awwwww" inciting moments...plus Colin; what more can you ask for?
When the Oscar hoopla was happening about this movie, I had no idea that Mr. Darcy was in it! LOL
Watch Pride & Prejudice (starring Colin Firth & Jennifer Ehle), and I promise you'll have hearts in your eyes...so romantic.

What's been on my 2011 summer plate?
I've also eaten a lot of yummy salads.
I told you...don't think I ever tire of tacos. LOL With Mexican rice & frijoles, it's such an easy dinner. Not anything exceptional, but guaranteed deliciousness every time.
One thing that I ate that was exceptional this summer was pizza, from Sapore di Napoli.
Neapolitan pizza is my favorite kind.
As a Chicagoan, admitting this is like committing treason, because Chicago-style deep dish reigns supreme here. That's okay though; I love & prefer the not-too-thin, chewy, charred crust over the thicker, flaky, buttery kind.
• Gyros with Tzatziki Sauce
• Pita Bread
• Greek Chicken Salad
• Orange Chicken (It's Copycat recipe, but SOOO much better than Panda Express. I adapted the recipe & hope to post it when I make it again.)
• Meatless Lasagna: Mushrooms, Spinach & Feta cheese
• Corn Tortillas
...I haven't really cooked up anything new this summer.
It's been chilly since yesterday, & immediately I'm in the mood for comfort eats.
Think I'm going to surprise Husband this week with a real deal meal...baked chicken, mustard greens, sweet cornbread, macaroni & cheese, and cinnamon & brown sugar sweet potatoes.
What's on your plate?
Eat anything exceptional this summer?
Camera was in the repair shop when I tried the (bulleted) linked recipe...else there would've been posts:( As I licked my chops & prepared to stuff my face, I wished I had the camera every time to take photos to share with you; but at the same time, I was glad I didn't have to wait to eat;)
All of the recipes were really good, except the gyro's; but that was my fault...I used ground beef instead of lamb.
What kind of gyro is that, Marie?
I have no idea...will try it again, when I get over my fear of cooking lamb.
Push it real.

It was fun reading about how I would find romance in an unlikely place, or have to make a decision on something big in my career...or how great my finances were going to be for that week; even though I didn't believe any of it.
Something about the stars always intrigued me.
Whenever I look up at them, I'm instantaneously reminded of how small & big I really am...if that makes any sense.
I'd love to own a high quality telescope to better see the stars; and to see what else I could see.
Libra, I am, despite any recent change that states that I am a Virgo:P
