6 Ingredient Yummy Baked Beans.
Therapy is in the Air.
Being a perfectionist is like living your life, whilst holding your breath. Whether it's conscious or not, you inhale & immediately begin concentrating so deeply on being perfect, that you forget to exhale. You walk on eggshells & tip-toe around the spilled yokes called "mistakes"; often times so others won't see you for what you are...
Yes, I have to break it to you.
You ARE human.
Do you know what we humans do?
Inhale deeply, right now, and slowly release the carbon dioxide. Close your eyes & do it again. Let go of the self-pressuring stress.
Doesn't that feel better?
No human has it all together like you imagine, even if it appears that they do. We are all capable of committing mistakes...capable of causing problems...capable of getting & doing it wrong; often times, we do.
It really is.

Trip 1: Salvation Army haul.
Marie's Tips: Hurting in Heels.
Dressing for your body type can be challenging, especially if you're shorter than the average woman. Pretty shoes with heels have the ability to make you look good & appear taller, but is the pain really worth it?
Since we've already covered pants & denim, and dresses & skirts; lets discuss shoes...
If you are looking for tips on heels, I only have one. The rest is merely opinion & experience. Feel free to chime in with yours;)

Starting to look alike?
Are you & your spouse/significant other beginning to look alike?
I saw someone that Husband & I both went to college with, that I hadn't seen in awhile. He looked at me (& Husband was standing right next to me), and basically said that we were starting to favor each other.
It was weird because, that was something I'd recently noticed too after seeing a photo of us together. Husband doesn't see it all. He says we just smile similarly.
Independence Day, or any day, Potato Salad.
The key ingredients are scotch bonnet peppers (Warning!!! Hot. Hot. Hot.
Be safe & use gloves when handling. I thought jalapeno peppers were hot, then
found this! The chart (0-10) shows scotch bonnet at 9), allspice, and thyme.
Here's a fairly simple looking recipe! Should you try it, please let me know
your thoughts (in case my ready-made isn't being sold anymore).
If you buy a sauce, take a peek at the ingredients. I found some sauces
containing corn syrup, molasses, soy sauce, tomato paste, or jalapeno peppers...as the first 3 ingredients listed! And, and these had no trace of scotch bonnet peppers at all in them. Boo! To me, the good sauces must have this pepper listed at least second or third.
I've been eyeing Walkerwood Jerk Sauce for awhile, but only see it online.
Anyone try this brand?

Bantu Knot Out.
Twitter, you may know about my recent inspiration to try a bantu knot out.
I did it on, for the most part, dry hair. I misted it with a tiny bit of water & added a dab of Nourish & Shine throughout before sectioning, combing, twisting, knotting, & pinning.

Marie's Tips: Dresses & skirts.
If you're looking for a few quick tips to accentuate your frame & are unsure of where to start, read on!
Since we've already covered pants & denim (click here, if you missed it), lets discuss dresses & skirts...
Sauteed Kale Greens.
I read that kale greens have a lot of healthy nutrients, so I searched for a nifty little recipe that didn't have a very long cooking time. I'm used to boiling greens, but no longer want to prepare them this way. I need me nutrients!

Just because. . .
I feel like rambling...
For Father's Day, I made this for my dad. I also made some baked beans & potato salad. He enjoyed it, as well as the rest of my family. I love my dad so much (he taught me how to cook!); and I love cooking for my family. Recipes to come for the baked beans, and the salad...just in time for Independence Day!
If you are following the blog, Thank You so much!!! I appreciate you all, and I have a little giveaway coming up for you:)
Thank you Neeta, for the suggestion you gave me awhile back about fitted skirts! I went to my local thrift store & found some true treasures! 4 very nice skirts, for ten bucks; 3 of which are pencil skirts. I feel quite grown in them:) Hooray!
I might do a couple of "haul" post, as I took a second trip back to the store just a few weeks later. I also picked up a few things from Amazon, Ulta, & Walmart.
I love shopping! I hadn't been in a long while.
Thrift store shopping is especially fun; I think I might of mentioned that I love digging through disorganized racks to find nice stuff. Not to mention, the prices are always right;)
My sisters & I (and our mom) are planning to get together for a "Day of Thrifting"! Goodwill, Salvation Army, Village Outlet...Watch out there now!!!
I have 2 home projects I want to get done before the end of summer; sewing new covers for my couch & love seat pillows, and printing out/framing/hanging a few of my (& Husbands) favorite/best photos.
I really dislike having so many great photos (especially of us), sitting unseen, on our external hard drive. It makes me think if we should really take as many photos as we do, especially when we travel. It's like, we aren't really experiencing all we can in the moment; because we are busy (first, protecting the camera & second) taking hundreds of photos for later; just for sake of "remembrance"?
How does that work; if we only see the photos, if we first turn on the hard drive???
It makes me miss the convenience of disposable cameras...somewhat. At least with them, you made sure to get the photos printed.
Do you take a lot of photos when you are out & about, or when you vacation?
What else could you do with photos, to see & enjoy them more often?
Gosh, I really want to wear some bright lipstick; but I'm not sure how my skin will react.
Every time I think about getting into makeup, there's this circle of thoughts that go something like this:
Ooh, that is a really pretty color! I want to try it!
But...I can't really try that bright lipstick, without evening out my face first. It won't really look right. Okay, I'll just get my feet wet & buy a good tinted moisturizer. I hope it doesn't irritate my skin. Ugh, but what if it does? It's too hot! What if I really like it??? I'll want to wear it everyday. That means, I'll have to wash it all off every night.
Let's see...what else???...
Oh, I got my ears pierced yesterday. No shame:D
Whew...my brain feels better when I release some of these thoughts!
How are you doing today?
Off me meds: Getting back on track.
two months, but won't let it get me down. Time for some overdue self-motivation!
• I have a designated water bottle. I'm filling it up whenever it goes empty; which is currently about 3 times a day.
• I'm hiding my vegetables.
• I made my own facial scrub, with honey & oatmeal, that I finely pulsed in my food processor.
Exercise is still a struggle, but here's to getting back on track...the right track!
I am focused on what I am after.

Marie's Tips: Hey Mrs. Shorty Pants!
Shopping is fun, but can get a bit frustrating when the knee breaks of new pants or jeans, break somewhere around your calf, and the fabric forms a puddle around & under your feet.
There are ways around this. Believe it or not, you don't have to walk around with your jeans scrapping the ground.
You have options:)
If you are short and looking for shopping & dressing tips, but not quite sure where to start; I'm so excited to share with you what I've learned. If you're body type is petite (like mines), then the following & upcoming tips may especially help you.
Let's get started with Pants & Denim...

I'm thinking of starting an Ask Marie and/or Marie's Tips feature(s) on the blog. What do you think?
I don't get a lot of questions, but maybe you have some that you want to ask. Feel free to send me your questions. They can be about food & cooking, hair & nail/girly stuff, blog design, etc.
You can message below, or send me an email.
I'm looking forward to hearing your thoughts & questions!

Sausage, Spinach & Fennel Pizza.
Yes, like a parent trying to get their kids to eat veggies. If I'm having something with red sauce, I like to toss in handfuls of spinach. Lasagna, chicken parmesan...& pizza.
A sex doll & the delusional.
In this comedy, Lars Lindstrom is an awkwardly shy young man in a small northern town who finally brings home the girl of his dreams to his brother and sister-in-law's home. The only problem is that she's not real - she's a sex doll Lars ordered off the Internet. But sex is not what Lars has in mind, but rather a deep, meaningful relationship. His sister-in-law is worried for him, his brother thinks he's nuts, but eventually the entire town goes along with his delusion in support of this sweet natured boy that they've always loved. -iMdbThe gist of this movie sounds a bit ridiculous & silly, but this film is surprisingly deep & filled with emotion, sprinkled with light taps of humor here & there. Amazing performances! Ryan Gosling is one of my favorite actors & he doesn't disappoint in this movie. Grab a tissue...

Shouldn't you get paid, to do what you love?
"Often times we just give our talents away." These words came from a family member & stuck in our minds. Husband and I knew & understood them, completely.
How many times have you accepted a low-ball salary just to get the job, when you knew your talents deserved a higher pay?
How many times have you done something with your talent for another person in exchange for $, and you knew in your gut that what you were offering warranted $$, or even $$$?
How many times have you given "the family/friend discount"?
It is truly a challenge to look at yourself, determine your (monetary) worth, realize that you are worthy of it, and then ask for it. With so many factors to consider: your gift or talent, skill level, education, experience, living expenses of your desired lifestyle...your time & effort, it can be extremely difficult to gauge the total value & convert that into a number.
Packaged salad greens: Quadruple Wash?
It practically yells, DO NOT RINSE UNDER RUNNING WATER, OKAY. WE'VE ALREADY DONE IT...LIKE 3 TIMES! Here's our thorough washing process...
Do you rinse/wash anyway?
