The Blue Sphere.
Flipping through old photos, I found these & thought, "Niiice... an outfit post!!"
It was December, a little over a year ago, in Arizona. I think it was 60 degree temps that day; quite cool in the shade, toasty in the sun.
It still amazes me how a little time & space can vary weather, so drastically. Warm/summery in one place, and Frigid/wintry in another; both at the exact same time! How some places in (correct me if I have this wrong) Canada have very limited daylight. How the North Pole can go without getting any sunlight for months.
Polar nights. Northern Lights. These two, I think, I'd love to see & experience...Beautiful, but kinda eerie. No?

A New Look...Somewhat.
I'm still in the process of adding things
Whew! Sometimes I can only marvel at how much my occupation, actually involves being a stickler).
How does it look from your screen? I'd love to hear your feedback!
D-I-Y Nail Care: 4 Tools to Prep for a Mani.
Egg-less, Anchovy-less Caesar Salad with Homemade Croutons.
Sometimes I don't feel good about what I eat (like a 3 pack of Demets Turtles in one sitting). That is when I go make myself a huge salad!
It's been some time since I've had a caesar salad, so I made it for dinner one night & then lunch the next day.
Note: I will never buy store-bought croutons again! They are so simple to make. Here's how:

4 Films/Video that Scared me Sleepless.
I don't mind being a little creeped out after watching something creepy, but I don't like being too scared to close my eyes at night and go to sleep.
This is one reason I will not watch the movie Paranormal Activity. Not ever! When it first came out, coworkers of mine (all grown men) were talking about how scared they were!!! Just hearing them describe some of the scenes was too much for my vivid imagination. Have you watched this movie? How did you sleep that night? LOL
Just as You are. Right Now. This Very Moment.

Ribeye Steak Diane.
Why is it called this? Steak Diane. Who is Diane? Do you ever wonder where certain dishes get their names?
I've always wondered about Sloppy Joe. Can you imagine the person whom this was named after...assuming it was an actual person? I keep picturing this burly lumberjack...handsome, but "messy-hungry", with his flannel pockets stuffed with ground beef. That's just my insanely silly imagination though.

Tap. Clop. Click.
I love heels for the sound they make when I walk. I like heels even better when they don't hurt my feet. This is extremely rare with any shoe having a heel over 2.5 inches. So, for me, the next best thing is a "tapper".
Once, or twice, my sisters laughed (lovingly, as sisters do) at my shoes & called them "Tappers", because the "heels" are just barely there, yet they heard me coming about a mile away, by the tapping sound my shoes made. Technically, they're just flats with a tiny heel. Either way, these are my most favorite to shoe to wear!

Cheddar and Monterey Jack Stove Top Macaroni & Cheese.
The craving struck me hard on a week night. I left work thinking about it constantly. Must. Have. Macaroni and Cheese. Must have it now.
But, how am I going to do it? Do I even have any macaroni at home??
I have to stop at the store. But, there's no time!
I have to stop at the store...
It was serious!
I love macaroni and cheese! I love it creamy. I love it cheesy. I love it best baked, but sometimes I don't have the patience to wait for deliciously creamy, cheesy, baked mac and cheese with perfectly seasoned tiny bread crumbs sprinkled on top. That is why I'm on a constant look out for effortless, quick, stove top mac that tastes somewhat close to the real deal.
Chewing Gum Like it's Candy.
I sometimes chew 4-9 sticks in a row. This only happens when I'm sitting idle & I just bought a new fruity flavored pack (I promise, this never happens when I buy spearmint!)...or, like last night; I'm playing a 2+ hour game of Scrabble against Husband and getting somewhat frustrated & competitive in the process. I don't mind losing video games to the Mr., but word games...
He plays words like "Chi" & wins! I mean, how does that happen??? The chewing helps me concentrate, play, & patiently wait until it's my turn again. Not to mention, it tastes good.
If you've heard an accent spoken most of your life, isn't it just a "natural/normal" way of speaking to you? You don't really notice it's an accent at all, because everyone around you sounds the same, or at the very least, similar. Then, when somebody from "outside" comes along & opens their mouth...that is when you say, "Wow, they Have an Accent!" And, at the same time, they are thinking the exact same about you (after you've said a few words). LOL
I think that everyone, no matter where they live, has an accent.
What do you say?
Does an "accent-less" way of speaking exist?

Time, Your Grace.
Just recently finished watching season 4 (the final season), of this series. I don't want to give too much away, but the finale (though it was not utterly heart-wrenching as some series finales can be; as in, you feel so sad to see the characters go that you find yourself in tears. My eyes did well up at times.), felt like it had an appropriate ending at an appropriate time. I wasn't sure how much more I could take of "old King Henry". The direction that they took bringing back all of Henry's wives, and of course the flash backs, was kinda nice.
The season in general could not compare to the drama, and interest, and excitement that was season 2. Not sure if the show had different writers or what. I loved Anne Boleyn and a "Younger King Henry". For some reason, he just seemed to have more energy which brought more energy & humor to the entire show, or so it seemed to me. Unfortunately, as he rapidly grew older & more tired, so did the show in some respects.

From Princess to Empress...
...I feel I've moved up in rank! LOL
I loved & wore Vera Wang Princess for a couple years. The scent is very sweet, clean, and delicate; almost powdery. It lingers quietly throughout the day.
Wanting something new & a little less cutesy, I tried D&G awhile back, upon recommendation from a fellow blogger (friend in my head, as Wendy would say). Sniffing through the collection of 6 fragrances (supposedly all unisex, but a couple I had a good laugh at, upon imagining on a man), I picked L'Imperatrice. Fruity, vibrant, floral, slightly musky & utterly feminine. Love it & on my second bottle! Only minus, is that the scent does not linger throughout the day. When I finish this one, I will probably be shopping for a new scent.
So, what's your favorite fragrance?
What does it smell like?
Meal from the Oats.
I can't stand the looks of oatmeal, and yet a bowl of it with buttered toast makes me feel so much comfort.
I think it goes back to my childhood. Whenever I was sick, my parents would make this for me to eat. My dad would jokingly call it "gruel". Back then, I'd either eat it without looking into the bowl, or I'd keep my eyes closed.
Now, instead of eating it plain (plain for me equals a bit of brown sugar & a sliver of butter & sometimes a splash of cream), I'll add in fruit (& sometimes pecans) to make it a bit more appetizing.
Can you eat oatmeal without "dressing it up"?

Though I've Never Met The Joneses, I am Quite Familiar With Them.
It started in grammar school. It was so blatant, the importance of "Having". Having good looks, having things. If you looked good, you made friends, easily. If you had things, you made friends too. If you had good looks and a bunch of stuff, you were popular. Even the most uncool kid, suddenly became somewhat cool because he had a new Starter jacket or a pair of Air Jordan sneakers.

Don't Dawdle. Do!
Do It!! Part 2/2, by Sunshinelovespeace
Yes!!!! Great motivation to get moving & do the things that you want to do, right now.
I know, a lot of times I have a million ideas swirling around in my head, but they never become anything more than that. Just ideas. Other times, I get lazy and make up a date, sometime in the future, for when I'll get started on whatever it is that I want to do. Just procrastinating.
Lately, I've been sadly reminded how you never know what day will be your last. So, why not make the most of today; and live for it & celebrate it, by doing. No more thinking...No more waiting...Doing. Because, tomorrow may or may not be.

Sweet Potato Cheesecake with Candied Crumb Pecans.
This was not my idea. At all. In fact, I had never even heard of sweet potato cheesecake before. Where have I been?! My goodness...
Sweet potato pie is a delicious classic, as is cheesecake. Pairing the two together never entered my mind before it was suggested by Husband. He heard the idea from someone else. The someone else happened to be a chef. Who was I to ignore a chef's recommendation!?

This one is old, but still good. Flipping through, I still find inspiration.
The Retiring Perfectionist Journey: Lesson 4.
You didn’t pass the driver’s license test the first time. You burnt dinner trying a new cooking technique. You didn't get the new job you interviewed for. Your first roller set didn't turn out so great.
So, you failed on the first try. I've had a great deal of instances like these, and instantly felt like the world had just ended. Why? Because going in to it, I believed that I only had one chance; and I had to get it absolutely right. Coming out of it, having failed, I’d go extra hard on myself for not getting it right. Thoughts pounding my brain about what I should have said…What I could have done...What would have made the results turn out differently...Turn out right...Turn out perfect.

MAGICAL!!! I was truly swept away by both films.
Gorgeous, vibrant animation. Charming characters with heart-warming stories, filled with many adventures along the way. Subtle messages about life, in which (after both movies had ended) I came to feeling like I just learned something.

I Don't Have Anything....
Since I Don't Have You, by Ronnie Milsap.
Listening to the radio growing up...whenever the country station was on, I prayed to hear this song play! When it did, I felt super happy inside and soooo lucky...like the radio angels heard my little request & chose mine over the millions of others in the world.
3:13 - 4:30! I'd sing it, daydreaming about whatever boy I had a crush on at the time. LOL Never saw the video, until now. Must buy this song, so I can sing it at Husband.

Beret, Bangs, and Feather Earrings.
Since last June, I've only really worn twist-outs, and wash-&-gos. This was my attempt at somewhat styling my hair. I took down the twists in the front, pinned up the sides, and tried to pull some hair down in the front for bangs, even added a few pins (alas, they kept creeping back up...shrinkage.). Nevertheless, I dig it...a lot!
The Retiring Perfectionist Journey: Lesson 3.
It's often hard for you to applaud your own efforts, especially, if they don't immediately bring you stellar results. I know my mind almost immediately backtracks to that one thing I did wrong which cost me my desired perfect outcome, then, repeats it to me over, and over, and over again; overlooking the few things that I did well along the way.
What a horrible thing to do to yourself! Right?!
Learn to look on the bright side; you put forth effort...You tried. Most don’t even attempt trying. Train your brain to backtrack to your strengths and repeat those over, and over, and over again; but play them louder than that sad song about what you did wrong.
When things don’t turn out how you expect them to, learn to seek the positives in your efforts, and then, pat yourself on the back for giving it a go.
4th and final Lesson (at this time) coming up next...
Check out 1 and 2, if you missed them! Let me know what you think:)

On the way to Kohler.
The Retiring Perfectionist Journey: Lesson 2.
You may not realize how you take (some of the most trivial) things so seriously, yet you do. You drop and spill a bottle of nail polish remover, and let it ruin your mood for the rest of the evening.
BREATHE (not around the spilled acetone).
Ask yourself, “Is this (thing that I’m stressing over/letting bother me) really so serious?”
Lesson 3, coming up...
Here's Lesson 1, if you missed it.

The Day before 1.1.11...
The Retiring Perfectionist Journey: Lesson 1.
In this post, I mentioned retiring from my perfectionist ways. If you too struggle with having to have virtually everything "just so", than perhaps the following lesson (and coming lessons) will help you in some way as well.
If you're a total "Do-It-Yourself" type, like me, it is extremely difficult to accept help from other people.
Because you firmly believe that if you want something done (to your "particular" standard), then you should be the sole person to take care of it. While this is okay with some things (i.e.,styling your hair), it's not with Everything (i.e., planning, cooking, and hosting Thanksgiving Dinner).
